I’ve been diving back into Elden Ring Nightreign all week, and the arrival of patch 1.01.2 feels like a quiet but welcome breath of fresh air. FromSoftware has rolled out this update across PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and S, and it focuses on bug fixes for Nightlords, weapons, Guardian’s Remembrance, and more. After last week’s patch 1.01.1 made single-player mode a lot easier, and after a fresh round of server maintenance aimed at improving matchmaking, I was already hopeful. Now, with App Ver. 1.01.2 and Regulation Ver. 1.01.3 showing in the lower right corner of my title screen, I can see the team is still actively tuning the experience.

What Patch 1.01.2 Actually Fixes
As a player who loves experimenting with unconventional builds, the weapon fixes immediately caught my eye. Here’s the breakdown I’ve been working through:
| Bug Fix | Why It Matters to Me |
|---|---|
| Passive Effect “Add (Magic/Lightning/Holy) to Weapon” on a Bow no longer makes Physical attack power higher than expected. | I’ve had runs where a bow suddenly hit like a truck for no clear reason. Fun, but broken. |
| Some non-direct attacks from specific weapon skills no longer inflict the weapon’s attribute attack power and status ailment. | This cleans up weird interactions that made some skills overperform or behave inconsistently. |
| Weapons with “Projectile Damage Drop-Off Reduced” now appear in chests and felled enemy loot pools. | I can actually chase this passive without praying to RNG. |
| The Demon Merchant now appears correctly during the Guardian’s Remembrance Personal Objective “Find the Demon Merchant in Limveld.” | This one was frustrating. I spent an entire run searching for a merchant who never showed. |
| Libra, Creature of Night no longer repeatedly performs some actions. | Nightlord fights should be chaotic, not stuck on loop. |
| The game no longer becomes unstable under some circumstances during the battle against Adel, Baron of Night. | Stability matters when one mistake means a wipe. |
| A player near death after being grabbed by Wormface’s grab attack can now be rescued. | That grab was a death sentence with no counterplay. Now my squad has a chance. |
FromSoftware also notes that although this update includes bug fixes, similar issues may still occur under some conditions, and the team is continuing to work on them. I appreciate that honesty. Nightreign is a live game with a lot of moving parts, and I’d rather see clear communication than silence.
Why These Fixes Matter for My Nightlord Runs
The Nightlord battles are the heart of Nightreign for me. When I’m staring down a boss with two other players, or trying to survive solo, I need the rules to be consistent. The Libra fix is huge because repeated actions can turn a tense fight into a confusing mess. The Adel stability fix is equally important; there’s nothing worse than a frame drop or crash during a perfectly good run. And the Wormface rescue fix gives me a reason to risk a revive instead of writing off a grabbed teammate.
The bow passive fix also makes me reconsider my ranged builds. I used to slap on “Add Magic to Weapon” and watch physical damage spike in ways that felt unintended. Now I can build around actual attribute scaling and status effects. The projectile drop-off fix means I might finally find that passive on a good bow without farming for hours. These changes aren’t flashy, but they reshape the moment-to-moment decisions I make in Limveld.
The Road Ahead: DLC, Enhanced Nightlords, and Solo Play
FromSoftware has said that in addition to the DLC releasing later this year, new additions will be “gradually implemented,” including enhanced fights against existing Nightlords starting this month. That excites me. I’ve already beaten all eight Nightlord bosses, but I’m not done with them. Enhanced fights sound like a reason to revisit old arenas with new tricks, and I’m curious how they’ll scale for solo players.
Speaking of solo, the debate around single-player difficulty has been intense. The director revealed he soloed every boss without Relics and wanted players to know it’s “very possible” to see everything. That’s a bold statement, and honestly, it pushes me to improve. I’ve been using Relics as a crutch, but maybe it’s time to try a no-Relic run. I’ll probably fail spectacularly, but that’s part of the fun.
If you’re still working through the roster, there are plenty of Nightreign tips and tricks to help you take down all eight Nightlord bosses. I’ve also been helping friends unlock the two locked Nightfarer classes: the Revenant and the Duchess. Changing characters regularly keeps the game fresh, and each class forces me to rethink my approach. The Revenant’s summoning style and the Duchess’s elusive toolkit are worth the effort.
My Plan for the Weekend
With patch 1.01.2 live, I’m going to:
-
Rebuild my bow character around legitimate attribute damage.
-
Hunt for “Projectile Damage Drop-Off Reduced” weapons in chests.
-
Re-run Guardian’s Remembrance to finally meet the Demon Merchant.
-
Test the Wormface rescue fix with my squad.
-
Start practicing for the enhanced Nightlord fights.
I’m also keeping an eye on the DLC. FromSoftware hasn’t revealed everything yet, but the promise of gradual additions means I’ll keep logging in. Nightreign has its rough edges, but patches like this show the team is listening. For a game that thrives on tension, unpredictable bosses, and build experimentation, even small fixes can change everything. So yes, I’ll be back in Limveld tonight, bow in hand, ready to see what breaks next.
